‘Carriers On Dole’
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Oct. 15. Lack of work was forcing some Auckland carriers to go on the dole or go broke, said the president of the Auckland Owner - Drivers’ Association, Mr T. R. Burman, of Papatoetoe. Mr Burman said that there was hope of a slight improvement as the summer approached and roadmaking was resumed. Mr J. K. Burgess, president of the Auckland Master Carriers’ Association, said the association was very concerned at the decline in carrying work.
