SOFTBALL TOUR
Choice Of Coach (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Mr A. Whelan, of Auckland, will be the sole selector-coach of the New Zealand softball team which will compete in the world championship in Oklahoma next September. His appointment was made at a meeting of the Sofball Association’s Council on Saturday. Mr Whelan was selector-coach of the New Zealand team which finished third in the world tournament in Mexico last year. The secretary of the, association (Mr G. F. Vincent) said that New Zealand would seek a tour of America before the world tournament.
New Zealand trials would be held after the Beatty Cup tournament in Auckland this season, Mr Vincent said.
