BOLIVIAN CLASH
Guerrillas Killed
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LA PAZ, Oct. 15. Four guerrillas were killed in a clash with Army troops in southeast Bolivia' yesterday, an Army comunique said.
The clash occurred near the spot where the Cuban revolutionary Ernesto “Che” Guevara was reported to have been killed.
The clash was part of the Army’s campaign to wipe out the last pockets of resistance in the seven-month-old guerrilla outbreak in the area. The four killed yesterday included a Cuban, a Peruvian and two Bolivians.
The Cuban was identified as the head of the guerrillas’ medical staff, the communique said.
A report from Washington said the United States is satisfied on the basis of fingerprint evidence that Dr Guevara was killed in Bolvia last Sunday. The State Department declined to give any formal confirmation, however, apparently preferring to leave the matter in the hands of the Bolvian Government But it is believed that the small team of United States specialists who have trained Bolivian forces in antiguerrilla operations had been able to verify the Bolivian Government’s claim independently.
