Donald Mac Has Form At Orari

The Wingatui trainer, J. S. McKay, has two strong form runners, Donald Mac and Stephans r, engaged in minor events at th? Geraldine Racing Club’s meeting today.

Donald Mac should be hard to match at six furlongs in the Gladstone Improvers’ Handicap, and the three-year-old Stephanair is in solid form for his first try at a mile and a quarter In the Wainui High-weight Donald Mac was third behind the speedy Shipboard at Orari last month.

Stephanair was runner-up to Tulson in the Dunedin Guineas and won over a mile at the Otago Hunt meeting two starts earlier. The combined efforts of Sabell, Royal Master, Sir Limond, and Gingerbread

should make a Riccarton victory very likely in the Members' Handicap, the first leg of today’s TA.B. double. But the second leg, the Stewards* Handicap, could produce some strong competition from South Canterbury, MidCanterbury, and Otago sprinters. The Ashburton-owned and trained Quick Flight, and the Riccarton pair. Red Chips and Carolina, may be the pick of this field, but Glamis Lad and ■ Castle Flight would. bow to none for ability on their top level of performance.
