e Applications are invited foi appointment in the field of geo physics in the following cata gories: Senior Research Fellows. 5 Research Fellows. Fellows. The research activities in geophysics in the Department currently include: , Seismology, in which the Department operates a large number of stations, including a 20 1 element U.K.A.E.A. array paleomagnetism and geomagnetism, which includes colla--1 borative work with the geo- ! chronology group. Experimental geology, using equipment for deforming rocks at pressures up to 10 kilobars and temperatures up to 1000 C. heat flow. The salary of a Senior Research Fellow is determined in the range of 9A7800-9324 and of a Research Fellow in the range 9A5400-7250. Appointment is for three years with a possible extension to five years. The salary of a Fellow is tn the range 9A6400-8740. Appointment is made for an initial Seriod of five years; thereafter e may be reappointed until retiring age. A Fellow is entitled to one year’s study leave on full salary with a contribution towards travel and other expenses, in every seven years of service.

Superannuation is on the F.S.S.U. pattern with supplementary benefits. Reasonable travel expenses are paid and assistance with housing is provided.
