MARRIAGE BANNS
Replacement Proposed (N.t. Ortii association) NAPIER, Oct 12. The Synod of the Walapu Diocese will ask the General Synod to consider whether to continue publishing marriage banns. The Rev. D. J. Kidd (Mahon) asked the synod in Napier yesterday whether it was time to uk if the publishing of banns was perpetuating an anachronism. Mr Kidd said that if banns were to be continued a uniform scheme wu needed for the whole province. A Pastoral proclamation, with a selection of prayers suitable for cohgregfitlonal use, could perhaps replace the banns,
