Employers Criticised
The Christchurch Labour I Representation Committee I says it deplores that’s unlike | Parliament in preparing aid passing legislation for 10 p.m. closing of hotels, the employers apparently did nothing to negotiate conditions to operate the legislation. This was contained in a statement last evening from the committee chairman, Mr E. G. Adcock. “One aspect of this arrangement that has apparently been overlooked by the employers 1 and the Chamber of Commerce is that the social and home life of the barmen and barmaids has been destroyed for five nights of the week. “This L.R.C. is confident that the public generally and the bar patrons particularly would support adequate compensation for the employees in the hotel industry,” Mr Adcock said.
