Market In Balance; Heavy Sales Of B.H.P.
B.H.P. dominated a more active market on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday. More than 6500 shares were traded, involving about $90,000. Prices ranged to 1415 c before falling in the afternoon.
The market was about in balance with falls just shading rises. Movements were narrower than on previous days.
N.Z. Refining recovered 10c to 490 c while Alex Harvey added 3c to 268 c. Golden Bay rose 3c to M)Bc while Northern Steam gained 3c to 70c, which is, still 30c below par value.
In' the overseas section. Bank of N.S.W added 50c to 590 c in the, first sale for a week. •. Falls included less frequently traded shares. N Z
Steel shed 1c to 45c while U.E.B. lost 1c to 76c. Marlin Carpets was quoted for the first time yesterday,
I although there were no sales. The closing quotations were I 170 c buy, 210 c sell. They were , floated to the public at 212 c.
