SHEARING CONTEST
Eight young farmers' club teams have entered for a shearing and wool-hand-ling contest to be held at the Ellesmere Show tomorrow. Each team will consist of two sheares and two woolhandlers, and the winners will compete In the North Canterbury area final, from which a team will be selected to compete in the national final at the “Golden Shears” contest at Masterton next year.
The winner of each section at the national final will receive a trip to Australia. This is provided by the Wool Board. Teams for tomorrow’s contest have been entered from Darfield, Sheffield, Ellesmere (two), Banks Peninsula (two), West Melton and Dunsandel. The first prize win be $2O, second $lO, and third $2. There will also be demonstrations of blade shearing throughout the day. The judges will be Messrs J. A. Addis (Mayfield), R. Parika (Hororata), A. Lister (Chertsey), R. Kidd (Christchurch), and L. Galloway (Christchurch).
