Fire Calls
Fifteen fewer fire calls were received by the'Christchurch Metropolitan Fire Brigade in September compared with the same month last year, the Chief Fire Officer (Mr L. R. Osmond) reported to the Christchurch Metropolitan Fire Board last evening. The brigade received 157 calls, comprising 50 property fires, 22 chimney fires and 24 herbage fires. There were 38 automatic false alarms, 12 justifiable false alarms and 11 malicious false alarms. Brigade vehicles travelled 5017 miles.
