Agreement In Khartoum
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) CAIRO, September 1. The Arab summit in Khartoum has unanimously agreed that an acceptable political settlement of the Middle East problem must liquidate aggression and recognise the rights of Palestinians, the authoritative. Cairo newspaper “Al Ahram” said today.
The summit had also endorsed a decision stipulating that Jerusalem was Arab territory, the newspaper added. There were also several secret resolutions “to confront the battle in the political, military and economic fields." “Al Ahram” added that President Nasser, due to return to Cairo later today, had invited King Feisal of Saudi Arabia to visit Egypt and had himself been invited to the Lebanon by President Charles Helou. In Washington, a White House spokesman said today that President Johnson was prepared to co-operate fully in any efforts towards peace in the Middle East. The spokesman, Mr George.
Christian, was commenting after talks the President had with the Jugoslav Foreign Minister, Mr Marko Nikezic, who brought a personal message from President Tito on his recent tour of Arab capitals. Similar personal messages had also been delivered to the Soviet Prime Minister, Mr Alexei Kosygin, and President de Gaulle.
