Heavy snowfalls in the main ranges of Canterbury in the last 24 hours have completely altered the snow situation and will permit the ski clubs to run at normal strength, according to reports received yesterday. As a result of the heavy falls, the Canterbury junior ski scholarship training plan has been revived and will be held at Temple Basin, where there is most snow, from September 4-8. All Canterbury nominees for the McKenzie Scholarship, and three other promising junior racers, have been invited :to participate in the school. Those chosen are: A. Everist (Christchurch Ski Club), M. O’Brien (Canterbury Winter Sports Club), T. Stewart (C.W.S.C.), Miss S. Willis (C.W.S.C.), Miss Judy Steyenson (Amur! Ski Club), A. Ensor (Windwhistle Winter Sports Club), H. McKellow (W.W.S.C.), and D. Oddie (Tasman Ski Club). The Bata Cup sponsored race, which was to have been held at Mount Cheeseman this week-end, and which had been cancelled, cannot be held even though snow has fallen.
