N.Z. Basketball Team
Sir, —I recently had the pleasure of seeing the New Zealand women’s basketball team when they played South Australia en route to thte world championships in Perth. The unsolicited comments overheard on this occasion, and again at Adelaide airport on their triumphant return from Perth, were evidence of the excellent impression created by this team and their manager, Miss E. Yates, of Christchurch. Congratulations to the team on their resounding success both on the court and, equally important, off the court—Yours, etc., B. N. WALKER. Adelaide, August 28, 1967. The Theatre
Sir,—Through this coloumn I wish to thank Mr Charles Doming of J. C. Williamson
Theatres, Ltd., for clarifying his remarks about "theatrical isolation.” The Canterbury Theatre Trust shares Mr Dorning’s thoughts that the New Zealand public are entitled to see international artists in plays, and for this reason it has recruited its company from'New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States.—Yours, etc., P. M. SMYTH, Public Relations Officer, Canterbury Theatre Trust. August 30, 1967.
