Overhanging Trees

Sir,—ln addition to the overhanging trees in neighbours’ gardens to which “Be Honest” draws attention, I would like to bring up the question of trees overhanging footpaths. In a great many streets trees have been allowed to encroach, to the inconvenience of pedestrians. Of an evening one's hat can be swept off and, if it is wet, a deluge of water can be encountered. In some cases the branches are so long and low that someone is likely to suffer injury to the eyes. Could not the councils have a printed notice prepared which could be placed in the offenders’ letter box requesting cooperation and prompt attention?—Yours, etc., RALLY ROUND. August 29, 1967.
