Bompa Impresses
"The PreM" Special Service
WANGANUI. The Wairarapa visitor Bompa ran an excellent trial over half a mile at Wanganui on Tuesday in preparation for the Wanganui Jockey Club's Two Thousand on Saturday.
The sprint should have Mm at peak form for the Wanganui Guineas on Saturday week. His stablemate Justify was another to impress. Trials were held in unsettled weather on the No. 1 grass, which was soft.
Bompa (Strawbridge), which worked when the track bad cut out. Impressed with a smart half-mile In 51 S-Ssec, the last three in 39sec. The three-year-old accelerated brilliantly and waa moving easily at the post.
Justify (Cleaver) worked over * circuit and wet finishing strongly over the last three In 39 3-Seec.
Understudy (Lewis) was not troubled to record 38 1-Ssec tor three furlongs. Pay Bank (Titter) ran three in 38 S-Ssec.
The Hastings visitor Hops (Mirltana) was given a quiet half-mile in 57 3-ssec, the last three In 42sec.
Dunraven (Constable) led Paries D'Amour (Messent) early, but they finished together to record Msec tor five, the last three In 39 2-ssee. . Destrlere (Messent) ran six in Imin 18 4-Ssec, the last three taking 41aec. Beyond (Titter) showed that he would not be outclassed in the Newman Handicap by running six furlongs in Imin 19 S-ssec, the last three easily In SI 1-Ssec.
