No Promise On TV

(N.Z. Press Association)

WELLINGTON, August 30. The Minister of Broadcasting (Mr Adams-Schneider) told Parliament today that he could not promise that the whole of New Zealand would have television coverage before a second channel was set up.

“It would be my wish to see the Broadcasting Corporation give complete coverage first but there are-major problems of access in isolated communities,” he said.

He was answering questions from Mr P. Blanchfield (Lab., Westland) and Mr W. W. Freer (Lab., Mount Albert). He told Mr Blanchfield that an N.Z.B.C. team was investigating a site for a South Westland transmitter but he could not say when this might be ready.
