Former Stud Passed In

Bushey Park Estate, the former world-renowned Corriedale stud, was passed in at auction in Dunedin today at $200,000. The highest bidder was Mr H. J. Ross, a Dunedin solicitor, who was acting on behalf of an undisclosed client
Negotiations will take place for the Palmerston property between Mr Ross and the vendors, Trustee Executors and Agency Company of N.Z., Ltd. About 80 people attended the auction, although only two entered bids.
The Government valuation of Bushey Park is $265,000. Bushey Park comprises 2300 acres of freehold and 46 acres of Crown leasehold land. About 2000 acres is easy rolling hill country and 400 acres is heavy river flats. A feature of the property is the spacious homestead built by the late Mr J. A. Johnstone in 1920. There are two other houses, three cottages, a cookhouse and men’s quarters. Other facilities include a stud ram shed, bull pens and cattle shed, cattle yards, two woolsheds, sheepyards, loading facilities, swim dip, hay shed (10,000 bales), grain shed, implement sheds, cow byre and a killing shed.
