Draw For Colts
After being down 0-2 at half-time, Canterbury scored two quick goals in the second half to draw with Auckland on the third day of the national colt's hockey tournament at the Polo Grounds yesterday. Canterbury now have a one point lead in pool B. In pool A, Wellington continued its winning way with a 2-1 win against Central Districts.
Results of matches were: Canterbury A 2, Auckland 2: Wellington 2, Central Districts 1; Western Districts 3, Otago 2; Southern Minor 6, Southern Districts 0; Eastern Districts 3, Maadi Cup Districts 3; North Auckland 3, Canterbury B 2. The following teams nave been selected to represent the Northern and Southern Zones at the Polo Grounds today:— Northern Zone: B. Miller, R. Gorringe (captain), B. Turnbull, G. Chester (Auckland); G. Turbott, R. Horsfleld, B. Cassin (Eastern Districts); W. Jacks, K. Corney (Central Districts); G. Charteris, M. Sayer (Western Districts). Reserves: W. Williams, D. McKelvie (Auckland). Southern Zone: M. Lumsden, T. Wall, M. Thompson, A. Chesney, R. Crambull, R. McHarg (Canterbury); N. Day (Southern Minor); P. Ashton, R. McCormack, K. Carpenter (Otago); T. Scott (Wellington). Reserves: B. Bhana (Canterbury), T. Messer (Wellington). The match begins at 2.30 p.m. and all players are asked to report to the St. Albans cricket pavilion at 1.30 p.m.
