Comment On Players
A statement that some members of the Canterbury soccer team involved in the Chatham Cup on Saturday were not full out in their match against Nelson on Saturday, attributed to Mr M. Pahi in his managers’ report to the Canterbury Football Association’s management committee on Tuesday evening, was made by the treasurer (Mr N. R. Dixon). “Some players were not full out in this match,” said Mr Dixon. “They were saving themselves for the Chatham Cup final on Saturday and were not risking injury.” “I think this is unfair comment,” said Mr Pahi.
Ski Races Cancelled.—The Bata Cup sponsored ski races, which were to have been held at Canterbury Winter Sports Club (Mount Cheeseman) during the week-end have been cancelled. The storm last weekend did not produce sufficient snow for the races to be held.
Rugby Win.—Making better use of its opportunities, Buller scored a surprise, 15-12, win over Wanganui at Wanganui on Tuesday.
