Semi-Final Stage Of Boys’ Golf

WELLINGTON.
The son of a club professional golfer moved into the semi-finals of the New Zealand boys’ golf championship at the Shandon course yesterday.
He is D. F. Guise, son of the Hutt professional, A. Guise. Yesterday afternoon he won his quarter-final against A P. Reynish (Manawatu) 5 and 4. The other semi-finalists are S. M. Owen (Castlecliff). C. J. Smale (Manawatu) and C. Castle (Shandon).
Castle meets Smale and Guise plays Owen in the semifinals this morning. The final will be played this afternoon.
Results yesterday were: S M. Owen (CastlecllS) beat p. Burney (Manakau), 1 up; A. D. Chadwick (Rotorua) beat B Hall (Remuera), S and 3; A. P. Beynlsb (Manawatu) beat C. J. Wilson (Pukekohe), 5 and 4; D. F. Guise (Hutt) beat J. Barbour (Hlghfield), 2 and 1; C. J. Smale (Manawatu) beat D. Gendall (Shandon), 4 and 3; K. Ansley (Tawhero) beat M. L. Wevers (Masterton), 8 and S; C. Castle (Shandon) beat M. C. Leitch (Manukau), 2 and 1; T. Proctor (Paraparaumu) beat P. K. Cleland (Russley), 4 and 3; Owen beat Chadwick, 3 and 1; Guise beat Reynish 5 and 4; Smale beat Ansley, 1 up; Castle beat Proctor, 1 up.
