73 Best Round In Schoolboys’ Golf
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. T. Proctor, of Paraparaumu, the oldest boy in the tournament, set the pace in the qualifying rounds of the New Zealand boys’ golf championship at Shandon, Hutt Valley, yesterday.
The tall sixth-former showed amazing accuracy on the gale-swept fairways in carding a first-round one-over 73—the best score of the day. Proctor, who is only a couple of weeks off the championship age limit of 18, looked a player of much promise in both the morning and afternoon rounds.
