The Foreign Ministers of five countries agreed in Bangkok yesterday to establish a new regional co-operation organisation to be known as the Association of South-east Asian nations, the Thai Foreign Minister, Mr Thanat Khoman announced. It consists of Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines (the .three members of the Association of South-east Asia) together with Singapore and Indonesia. The Thai Foreign Minister was asked what the ministers had decided on the question of foreign bases. The question was after reports that Indonesia wanted some declaration making it clear such bases detracted from the nonmilitary nature of the new grouping. Mr Thanat said the matter posed no problem.
