NINE IN WORLD
Woman Has Rare Blood (N.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON, Aug. 6. Mr J. T. Rauna visited his wife and new baby son for the first time in the National Women’s Hospital in Auckland yesterday. Mrs Rauna gave birth to her fifth child, without complications, on Tuesday, in spite of her blood group being one of the rarest in the world. Only nine other people are known to have the same blood. Mr Rauna said that when it was discovered during his wife’s pregnancy that she had this rare blood type, he was amazed.
“We just couldn’t believe it," he said. “We had already had four children, and all the blood groups seemed to match. It just didn’t seem possible.”
