13TH NATIONAL RIDE TODAY

Koral’s trainer-jockey, W. J. Hillis, will have his thirteenth ride in a Grand National Steeplechase today. It is 21 years since the Riverton horseman rode Spanish Main into second' place behind Dumbo. Since then he has ridden three winners of the Canterbury Jockey Club’s great race

—Capet in 1959, John O’Groats in 1964, and Koral in 1965.

There have also been three minor placings, a second on Capet in 1958, and thirds on

Lisheen (1948) and Koral (1966). There have also been three falls, one in 1961 with Capet, which was having his fourth of five starts in the race.

Hillis is private trainer to Mr W. E. Hazlett, and these Southlanders have been leaders in their fields for the last two seasons.
