Varied Fare In Country And Western Show

A Chopin waltz, Mexican, American and New Zealand ballads and two hymns were among the fare in the 1967 Country and Western Show in the Theatre Royal last evening.

The show moved at a lively pace, providing two hours and a half of enjoyable entertainment.

The participants included Howard Morrison, Peter Posa, John Hore, Paul Walden and Keri Summers.

Peter Posa provided the highlight of the show with a virtuoso display of guitar play, and Howard Morrison was, as always, a competent showman and artist. He kept the show moving. Just back from an extensive tour of the United States, John Hore made a large contribution to the variety and

standard of the show, introducing many new numbers learnt on his tour.

Paul Walden, with his smooth and easy style, had perhaps the most pleasant voice.

Keri Summers, the only female in the show, more than held her own among a toprate team, and was called back for two encores.

Garry Wallace and the Quintikis provided the background, but their performance was more than just in the background. The audience was kept laughing at the antics of Garry Wallace in “Dear John”, ■in which he played the part of an exuberant female. The show will continue its season in Christchurch until August 12.
