(N.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, July 11. A Turangl farmer, Mr F. Grace, has. padlocked his farm gate to prevent the Ministry of Works surveying a proposed road across his land, Mr Grace said today the M.O.W.’s planned road would lead to serious flooding on his farm, and on land farmed by his mother, Mrs P. A. Grace.
He explained that the M.O.W. resident engineer at Turangl (Mr J. D. Ben-
nion) told him he wanted to make a survey for a proposed access road to Stump bay, between Tongariro delta and Motuoapa. It is accessible only by boat Most of the land fronting the bay is swamp.
He told Mr Bennion such a road conld lead to serious flooding on his land and suggested they examine another route which runs roughly at right angles from Delatour’s pool to the lake.
