“Mona Vale”

Sir,—E. M. Walls asks if Christchurch’s youth has any interest in “Mona Vale.” I, for one, have, and I consider that it is vital that such an attitude exists if our natural heritage as a “garden city” is to be maintained. We should endeavour to obtain as much parkland as is possible. It would be foolish to believe that Hagley Park and other present areas will suffice when our population doubles, as it will do in the foreseeable future. A city must have a certain amount of public parkland, and the advantage which "Mona Vale” will bring to Christchurch in the future should not be squandered.—Yours, etc., “MINOS JAYF.” July 7, 1967.
