Rate Reduced
By paring the estimates, a special meeting of the Mount Herbert County Council had found it possible to reduce this year’s rate, notice of which had already been given, of 1 7-8 d in the pound on the capital value, said the County Clerk (Mr C. O. Spiller) yesterday. The new rate will be 0.675 of a cent in the dollar, compared with the 0.78125 cent in the dollar equivalent of the original rate. It is an increase of 2 per cent on last year’s rate, instead of the original increase of 17.7 per cent
