RACING Beau Supreme May Win Again
Beau Supreme and Krazikid should be a formidable combination for the South Canterbury Jockey Club’s T.A.B. double at Washdyke tomorrow.
Beau Supreme will be attempting his second win for the meeting when he runs in the first leg, the H. H. Fraser Memorial Handicap, and it is pretty certain that at least two of the fresh runners will be strong rivals.
Newcomers at the meeting in the Fraser Memorial field include Master Sheeny, easy winner of the Oauaru Winter Cup at his last start; and Sandbank, winner of the Waimate Cup in May and a brilliant finisher for third in the mile Maronan Handicap at Ashburton last Saturday week.
Even Chance, another newcomer at the meeting with ability to run a middle distance better than most of the others in this field, is also likely to have solid backing.
Even Chance will be ridden by W. D. Skelton. This close
relation of the top stayers, Eiffel Tower and Jamell, was fifth against the milers at Ashburton and was placed over the same distance at the Dunedin winter meeting. Like Krazikid, Even Chance is trained by P. H. Jones, and the stable pair will have an army of backers in the attempt to win the double. Krazikid made an encouraging fresh start with a close second to Time and Tide at Ashburton. It was his first race since November, and if he has
made average improvement—and that was suggested when he sprinted brilliantly in training yesterday he should be hard to match at six furlongs. Willypay, winner of the
i Donald Grant Memorial on : Saturday, Glatnis Lad, which
was third at Ashburton, and R. J. Skelton’s mount, GayDoctor, are expected to be Krazikid’s strongest rivals.
