Easier Market In Steady Trading
The tone on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday was easier as falls outnumbered rises by two to one. Leaders figured prominently among the falls. Turn-over was steady.
The overseas section was steady and included a 6d rise to 81s 9d by B.H.P. in Christchurch.
Kaiapoi Petone notes moved up 6d to 4s in the first sale for a month, reacting to the recent rise in the ordinary shares. N.Z. Refrigerating deferred shares rose 2d to 9s 4d while Andrews and
Beaven slipped 3d to 38s—its lowest point this year. Two retailers, George Court and Milne and Choyce, were both marked down. The motor firm, Schofield, fell 9d to 39s 3d while the two Auckland-based insurance companies, N.Z. Insurance and South British, slipped 2d and Id respectively.
