Relief In Schools
(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON, June 29.
The number of retired teachers doing relieving work at schools throughout the country was 301 last September, and there would have been only a slight Increase since, the Minister of Education (Mr Kinsella) told Parliament today.
Of these, 163 were working in secondary schools, 130 in primary schools, and eight in district high schools. The number of retired teachers was a very small percentage of the number of teachers in New Zealand.
Such surveys were taken in September because this was the most stable month, said Mr Kinsella.
