Town Easily Beat Weak Country Team

A well below full strength Town table tennis team had little difficulty beating Country by 80 matches to 40 when the annual event was played at the Selwyn street hall on Saturday evening. The Town was able to beat Country so convincingly when the Town men were only reserve players reflects on the depth of talent in town.

An occasional senior player, P. R. Bowman (Town) was extended to three games by the No. 1 Country player, A. Knock. After losing the first game 23-25 Bowman had to work hard to beat Knock 21-15 in the second game but had little difficulty winning the third. Knock extended A. L. Rutledge and beat J. Harliwich in three games. B. A. Isherwood, D. Dellor and A. C. Ascott were the only town players to win all their games. If he could become a little more dedicated Isherwood could lift his game considerably.
