Tananbaum, suggested yesterday that tbe Australian and New Zealand Governments find a way to waive horse quarantine regulations so that Untted States pacers may compete In the Inter-Dominion Trotting Championships, United Press international reported. Mr Tananbaum was speaking at a luncheon honouring Austratian and New Zealand visitors for the three-race international series which starts today at Yonkers Raceway. “We have had many great horsea here from “Down Under'* in the eight years of our international race-horses such as Caduceus, False Step, Cardigan Bay—but we have been unable to get some others we would have liked, due to the quarantine laws,” Tananbaum said.

"When the horse, come to the United States they must spend six months in quarantine in England before going home. The same rule would apply to any United States pacer going to Australia or New Zealand.” Turning to the New Zealand Trade Commissioner in New York, Mr J. Scott, Mr Tananbaum said:—

"I appeal to you to make efforts with the Governments concerned to arrange Mme way tor the United States horses to compote In the great races which are the Inter-Dominion, without the long quarantine. I am sure veterinary science now can provide the protection tbe law bad In mind. ’ Mr Tananbaum noted that making the International competition easier "would add to trade between our nations, since there would be vastly more buying and selling of racing horses.” Cardigan Bay is second favourite at 9/2 for the opening race tonight.
