Typewriting For School Certificate
A new School Certificate! subject, typewriting, has been introduced this year. The new subject will be suitable for candidates who wish to learn to type but who have no aptitude or use for shorthand. It will require a higher standard of typing and will also include questions on, commercial practice, office, routine, and the use of English, including spelling, punc-
ituation, and the correction of I grammatical errors. Instruc--1 tion in typewriting will occupy less time than short-hand-typing which takes up more classroom hours than other School Certificate subjects. Shorthand-typing will be retained as a School Certifiicate subject; but candidates Iwill not be able to offer it as well as the new subject, typewriting.
