Primary School Tests
In 1965 a working committee of the Department of Education and the New Zealand Council for Educational Research, with representatives of the teachers’ organisations, was set up to advise on the development of standardised tests of attainment for use in primary schools. A test development officer has been appointed by the Research. Council and work on the tests is progressing satisfactorily. Additional grants have been made for this purpose to the Council by the Department of Education.
The department itself is publishing a New Zealand adaptation and standardisation of the Tomlinson Test for New Zealand conditions. The revised tests were prepared by the Psychological Service of the department About 3,000 copies will .be made available to schools.
