Denial Of Charge
(N.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON, May 31. George Brownlee Isdale, a 75-year-old retired medical practitioner, of Ngaruawahia, was charged in the Hamilton Supreme Court today with attempted abortion. The trial is before Mr Justice Speight and a jury. Isdale pleaded not guilty.
Mr E. R. Winkel, of Auckland, is prosecuting for the Crown. Counsel for the defence is Mr N. I. Smith. Isdale is charged with unlawfully using a dilator on a 21-year-old unmarried Auckland woman with intent to procure a miscarriage. It was alleged that the incident took place on February 20 at Ngaruawahia.
