BIRTHDAY PARADE
Ceremony At Wigram In addition to the observance of the official birthday of Queen Elizabeth in Christchurch on June 5, a special parade will be held at the Royal New Zealand Air Force base, Wigram. It will be a full base parade with squadrons from the flying, engineering, ground training and base wings. It win be commanded by the commanding officer of the ground training wing (Group Captain E. C. Gartrell). After compliments have been paid to the Sovereign Group Captain Gartrell will present a gold R.N.Z.A.F. badge to Squadron Leader A. F. H. Lee. This badge is awarded for outstanding sportsmanship and service to service sports. Only 30 such badges have been awarded, and 19 recipients have now retired from the Air Force.
In addition Long. Service and Good Conduct Medals will be presented to Flight Sergeant G. E. T. Dale, Sergeant G. W. J. Hammett, Leading Aircraftmen N. C. Bindloss and N. McGlennis.
