Barrett Banned At Surbiton
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON. The former British Davis Cup captain, J. Barrett, has been banned from playing in this week’s Surrey grass court lawn tennis championships at Surbiton by the Lawn Tennis Association. The secretary of the L.T.A., Mr B. Reay, said that the decision had been made because Barrett had scratched from the men's doubles in the French championships in Paris on Saturday. The ban comes just 24 hours after G. Stilwell and his doubles partner, P. C irtis, had been ordered to withdraw from the event for the same reason. Barrett, who is manager of the L.T.AJs training squad, refused to comment on his banning, which came after he had already beaten K. Wool-

Jinx Broken The Wairarapa Rugby team yesterday broke a 26-year-old jinx by beating Wellington at Masterton, 8-6. Wairarapa scored with a converted try and a goal from a penalty.
