No Application For Dances
No application had been made to the City Council for the letting of the South Brighton Community Centre hall for a public dance, said the Assistant Town Clerk (Mr M. B. Hayes). He said that the South Brighton Community Centre was licensee of the hall, but the hall could not be let for public dances without the prior consent of the council. The Surf City dances at the hall on Saturday nights had stopped early this year. The dances were usually held only during the winter. Complaints had been made by local residents about noise and bad behaviour outside the dance hall after the dances had finished.
