FOREIGN CAPITAL
Flow Into Singapore
(N.Z. P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) SINGAPORE, May 30. The flow of foreign capital into Singapore has been on the rise in re< eent weeks, and much of it is believed to come
from Hong Kong. High Government officials say privately that the trend is due to the unrest in Hong Kong, which has been plagued by riots in recent weeks, and to the Singapore Government’s month-old order shortening the residential qualification in Singapore for industrialists who invest a minimum of 250,000 Malaysian dollars. China has claimed that the British troop carrier H.M.S. Bulwark has been sent to Hong Kong to carry on the “conspiratorial activities of the British Imperialists.”
On the eve of her arrival in Hong Kong, a Government announcement said the ship was' coming from Singapore on a “routine visit.”
Left-wing elements continued their campaign of harassment with a snap strike, cutting the vital cross-harbour ferry services during morning’s peak period. Thousands of office employees on both sides of the harbour were caught unaware by the sudden “token” strike.
