Latimer Square Office Block
Construction of a seven-storey headquarters block for the S.I.M.U. Mutual Insurance Association would begin in Latimer square by November, said the chairman of the board of directors (Mr E. J. Bradshaw) yesterday. The block would cost about £400,000.
Mr Bradshaw said that this office block was one of those referred to in “The Press” yesterday by the Government Building Programmer (Mr R. F. Paris).
The S.I.M.U. had the sketch plans for the building, he said. It would be built of concrete and would have suitable landscaping. Mr Bradshaw thought the new offices would be ready for occupation in about 18 months. Some of the offices in the building would be let. The general manager of the
association (Mr R. Wreaks) said he had no comment to make at this stage. The building will house both the head office and the Canterbury branch.
The company owns a section on the west side of Latimer square, which is used as a car park.
