AUCKLAND, May 30.
Calls to and from all parts of New Zealand were disrupted In Auckland this morning when the main coaxial cable between Auckland and Hamilton was damaged. It is part of the main communications system throughout the North Island.
The accident happened near Taupiri, just south of Huntly, when a trenching machine struck the underground cable. Post Office staff made temporary repairs by 10 a.m., but not before 600 toll calls had piled up in the Auckland exchange.
