MANAPOURI TUNNEL
Good Progress Reported

INVERCARGILL, May 30. Work underground on the Manapouri power scheme has been progressing steadily. During the week to midnight on Saturday the tail-race tunnel from the Deep Cove end of the project progressed 254 ft, compared with 287 ft the previous week, and the record 310 ft the week before that.
The best progress was on May 22, whet) the tunnel was advanced 56ft. The tunnel was 17,089 ft long on Saturday.
