Birkenshaw. did the hattrick, dismissing Worcestershire's last three batsmen in an English county match on Monday. Birkenshaw bowled D. Slade and L. Coldwell, and had J. Flavell caught at the wicket to finish with six for 24 from 17.4 overs. Rain again disrupted most games. Scores:— At Northampton: India 131/3 (C. Borde 62 not out) v. North* •mptaitshire. At Swansea: Hampshire 147/6 ▼. Glamorgan. At Nottingham: Derbyshire 187 Nottinghamshire 30/1At the Oval: Surrey 213/3 dec. (W. Smith 100 not out) drew with Basex 188/8. Surrey six pointe. Essex two. At Oxford: Oxford University 73/3 dec., M.C.C., 2S/1. At Lords: Sussex 249/3 (K. Suttle 149 not out), v. Middlesex. At Worcester: Worcestershire 91 (J. Birkenshaw 6/24) and 26/2 Leicestershire 111 (L. Coidweld 6/42). At Bristol: Gloucestershire 2*14/# v Somerset. The Lancashire v. Yorkshire match at Manchester was abandoned. and there has been no play between Warwickshire v. Kent.
