‘Must Accept Report’
(N.Z. Press Association)
TIMARU, May 30.
The basic principles of the Molyneux report would have to be accepted before New Zealand could overcome its high waterfront handling costs, the Minister of Transport (Mr Gordon) said in Timaru today. The Minister said he expected the Conference Lines would announce their reaction to the report within a month, and that within three months the Government would receive the recommendations of the Transport Commission. “I will then take steps to have the commission’s recommendations urgently considered,” the Minister said. The Minister said he expected the major recommendations of the report to be acceptable. There would, however, be aspects which would require amendment.
