(N.Z. Preu Association)
WELLINGTON, May 29. Nearly 160,000 decimal coin items bad been ordered since February, a Treasury official said this morning. This number included 40,000 uncirculated sets and 75,000 souvenir dollars.
The official said more than 43,000 of the 50,000 special polished sets had also been ordered but these were not being placed on public sale. From today 200,000 uncirculated sets and 125,000 souvenir dollars are on public sale at banks and post offices.
“These sets were deliberately ordered with public sale in mind,” said the official. They were limited to three items a person.
