Pole Beats Fourth Seed In Tennis

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Cppgright) PARIS. The 31-year-old Pole, W. Gasiorek, drew on his 17 years of Davis Cup experience to beat the seeded Italian, N. Pietrangeli, in the French tennis championships on Saturday.

Pietrangeli, twice winner of the title and the number four seed this year, was beaten 6-3, 7-5, 6-3, Another seed to fall in straight sets was A. Metreveli (Russia). Seeded seventh, he went down 6-2, 6-4, 6-3, to M. Holecek (Czechoslovakia). After a week of stop-start tennis In rain and gales, there was a full day’s play on Saturday.
