Funeral Of M.P.’s Wife

WELLINGTON, May 28.

A big crowd at the funeral of Mrs Mary Anne May, wife of the Member of Parliament for Porirua, packed the church of the Sacred Heart at Petone today. Among the members of Parliament and Cabinet Ministers attending were the Deputy Prime Minister (Mr Marshall), the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr Seath), the Minister of Education (Mr Kinsella), the Leader of Opposition (Mr Kirk), the Deputy Leader of the Opposition (Mr Watt), the president of the Labour Party (Mr N. V. Douglas) and the Member of Parliament for Hutt (Sir Walter Nash). The parish priest of Petone (the Rev. W. E. O’Donnell) said the Requiem Mass. The Auxiliary Bishop of Wellington (the Right Rev. 0. N. Sneddon) presided in the sanctuary and delivered the address, paying tribute to Mrs May. Father O’Donnell said the service at the graveside, at the Monumental Lawn Cemetery, Taita.
