New Offices Opened

The Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr Seath) said yesterday that the headquarters of the New Zealand Trotting Conference, on a half-acre of land at the Addington Raceway, would “do much for the image of trotting.”

He said that in the rapidly contracting world of today, New Zealand had become readily accessible to overseas racing interests who were becoming increasingly aware of the calibre of horses bred in the Dominion. Mr Seath said that such visitors were to be encouraged both for the good of the industry and for the good of the country's economy. “Many of these visitors will pass through these doors and I am sure they will gain the impression of efficiency and progress and will leave in the knowledge that the industry is in good heart and good hands.’’ As well as being important externally, he said the Indus-

try was doing a good job aa an earner of internal funds. Mr Seath congratulated the builders, Messrs E. A. Calvert Ltd., and the architects, CoUn Lamb and Stewart.
