TROTTING LORDSHIP WILL TEST MILERS

Mighty Chief May Beat Trotters If Mighty Chief, Friendly Tom and Lordship come up to expectations, patrons at Addington Raceway tonight should be well satisfied.

Mighty Chief and Friendly Tom will probably be the most popular combination for the Canterbury Park Trotting Club’s T.A.B. double and Lordship is likely to / dominate betting in the Championship Mile. Mighty Chief Will be trying to improve in outstanding record generally and < strong winning sequence for his Greenpark owner-trainer, L. R. Clark, In the first leg, the Canterbury Park Trotting Stakes. This £lOOO sprint race has attracted a small but selected field of high-class trotters. The strongest form juospects,

besides Mighty Chief, are Le Chant, Asia Minor and the unpredictable, but very capable, Break Through. Friendly Tom, beside being a very capable sprinter, has earned himself the reputation of being something of an Addington specialist tn races started with the mobile barrier. The Peninsula Stakes, the second leg, will be one of five races on tonight’s programme for which the gate will be used. If recent form proves the most valuable, the hardest for Friendly Tom to beat should be Stereo Scott, but there will be solid backing also for Landlord, James, Noeatchem and Vantage, which have all shown marked sprinting ability at times. Although a mile is generally considered a bit short

of Lordship’s best distance he is, without a doubt, still the country's top pscer and his class should carry him through against moderate opposition in the Championship mile. Now that Admire has dropped out of,the field Lordship will have only eight rivals with which to contend. Although Julie Hanover and Master Alan have stronger form background, the hardest for Lordship to beat might be Buchanan, whose last success was as a miler at Addington in February. The on-course concession double Will operate on the May and Mobile Stakes. Prospector Will probably be the popular fancy in the first leg. Glen Vale and Proudly might be the best second-leg chances.
